"The Rivers for Christ" is an off shoot of   "River for Christ Ministry".   These ministries are bringing the knowledge and love of God to the people of the Ucayali river which is in the rainforest area of Peru.
The "Rivers for Christ" ministry is working out of Pucallpa, a growing and bustling city of about 200,000 in Peru. Pucallpa is situated along the Ucayali River, which is a major river that feeds into the Amazon river many miles later down the river.
Along the Ucalyali River there are not only many off shoot rivers and streams, but along all of these waterways are small villages and towns; These are mainly small towns of 15 to 40 families, but a few are larger ones. The villages have natives which are called Shipibos (pronounced Shi-pee-boz). The Shipibos are a simple people who live off of the land. The towns have mestizo's which means people of mixed race, mostly indian and spanish.
